Jewelry Care

Sterling Silver and 14K Gold Jewelry

    • Cleaning: Gently polish your Sterling Silver and 14K Gold pieces with a soft, lint-free cloth to keep them shining bright! Each order comes with a complementary polishing cloth. For a deeper clean, use a mild soap with warm water and dry thoroughly with a clean cloth. Silver-specific and gold-specific cleaners can be used but follow the product’s instructions carefully to avoid damage.
    • Storage: Store your jewelry in a cool, dry place, ideally in individual soft pouches or lined jewelry boxes to prevent scratches and tarnishing. Keeping pieces separate also avoids tangling or scratching.
    • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Exposure to chemicals can damage or discolor precious metals and some gemstones. Remove your jewelry when using harsh chemicals, swimming in chlorinated water, or engaging in activities that lead to excessive sweating.

    Gemstone Jewelry Care:

    • Cleaning: Clean your gemstone jewelry with a soft, damp cloth after wearing. For more thorough cleaning, use a soft brush dipped in warm, soapy water, gently brushing the gemstone. Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. Be cautious with gemstones like Emerald, Opal, and Pearl, as they are more delicate and should not be soaked in water.
    • Protection: Gemstones, while durable, can be vulnerable to damage. Avoid direct impacts, extreme temperature changes, and exposure to harsh chemicals. Remove gemstone jewelry during heavy physical activity to prevent scratches or chips.
    Special Care for Specific Gemstones:
    • Some gemstones require additional love. Pearls, for instance, should be wiped with a slightly damp cloth and although a little of your skin's natural oils is good for your pearls, excessive sweat can damage them, so try not to wear your pearls when playing sports or in any other environments where you may perspire.
    • Opals will not be affected by water, creams or oils. Clean your opal with a little mild soap and water and polish dry with a soft cloth. Oils and face creams will not damage your opal jewelry, but a build up of these products will reduce its shine and clarity.
    • Emeralds should be kept away from high heat, it's best to avoid using steam or ultrasonic cleaners. Clean with a little mild soap and water. Be sure to buff the stone dry with a clean, soft cloth after thoroughly rinsing off soap.

    General Jewelry Care Tips:

    • Routine Checks: Regularly inspect your jewelry for loose settings, damaged prongs, or signs of wear. This is especially important for pieces worn daily. Annual professional cleanings and inspections are always a good idea.
    • Wear with Care: Jewelry should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off. This helps avoid exposure to lotions, perfumes, and other chemicals that could harm the metals and gemstones.

By following these care instructions, you will ensure that your precious jewelry remains in pristine condition, sparkling and beautiful for years to come. Remember, the key to jewelry care is preventative maintenance and gentle handling.
